Introduction and purpose: Spiritual health is one of the dimensions of health. It is a source of help for employees to understand the values ​​ of life by the help of their spiritual experiences in solving problems. This study was conducted to determine the spiritual health and its association with hope for the future at the staff headquarters of Golestan University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: The study was cross-sectional and descriptive-analytical in nature, conducted on 266 staff members of in Golestan University of Medical Sciences. The sampling method was a stratified random method. Data were collected using spiritual health questionnaire (Polotzin and Ellison questionnaire) and the hope for the future questionnaire (Schneider questionnaire) and analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistical methods (Spearman, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis) in SPSS-24 software and a significance level of 0.05.
Results: The average age of the employees was 42 ±7.81 years and the average working experience of the employees was 16.49 ±7.49 years. In total, 62% of the employees were women and the rest were men. The average score of spiritual health was 91.19 ± 16.87 and the average score of hope for the future was calculated as 41.62 ± 6.95. There was a direct and significant relationship between spiritual health and hope for the future in total and by different dimensions (P-Value < 0.001).
Conclusion: Spiritual health is average and hope for the future is high among the staff of Golestan University of Medical Sciences. Considering that with the increase in spiritual health scores and its dimensions, the hope for the future and its dimensions increases, the promotion of employees' spiritual health should be considered.
