People in old age limit their relationships to family members and friends, however, it is not clear which of the members of the social network affects the self-esteem of people in old age. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between perceived social support and self-esteem of the elderly residents of Khorramabad in 2023.

Research data were collected using demographic information form, Abbreviated mental test score, Zimet perceived social support questionnaire and Rosenberg self-esteem questionnaire. Independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and linear regression were used to analyze the data using SPSS22 software.
Results: The mean and standard deviation of the age of the elderly was 69.51 ± 7.55. In terms of gender, 175 of them (51.5%) were women. 235 people (69.1%) were married. The results of the study showed that the variable of total social support, social support of family and friends, has a direct and significant relationship with self-esteem (p<0.001). Also, there was a significant relationship between education with self-esteem (p<0.001).
