Introduction and Purpose: The escalating trend of the aging population (individuals over 60) in Iran signifies a fundamental change in the demographic structure and, consequently, a transformation in the country’s social structure, particularly in the health domain. Given that a significant portion of the national population will soon fall into the elderly age group, and adequate facilities commensurate with the needs of this stratum have not been sufficiently anticipated in social planning, this research was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between socioeconomic status and health-oriented culture with the quality of life of the elderly in Abadeh.
Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional, survey-based research. A total of 375 elderly residents of Abadeh were selected using a cluster random sampling method. Data collection was performed using the standardized World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL) questionnaire and researcher-developed questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS software, employing the Pearson’s correlation coefficient, Independent-Samples T-test, and multivariate regression. A significance level of p<0.05 was considered.

Results: The study observed a positive and significant relationship between socioeconomic status (R=0.295, p<0.001) and quality of life. Similarly, a positive and significant relationship was found between health-oriented culture (R=0.247, p<0.001) and quality of life. Regarding the background variable of gender (p < 0.001), no significant difference was observed in the quality of life between men and women. Finally, the independent variables of the study collectively explained 12.5% of the variance in the quality of life of the elderly.
Conclusion: The findings of this research indicate a moderate quality of life among the elderly in Abadeh. The results showed that older adults who possess a higher Socioeconomic Status experience a greater level of Health-Oriented Culture and, consequently, a better Quality of Life. Given the pivotal role of Health-Oriented Culture as a key indicator of human development, it is imperative for health policymakers and planners to prioritize the promotion and institutionalization of this culture prior to individuals entering the elderly phase. This approach necessitates prioritizing investment in prevention rather than solely emphasizing curative healthcare expenditures.
