Introduction and purpose: Spiritual health is one of the dimensions of health, assisting employees in understanding the value of life and solving problems. The present study sought to assess spiritual health and its association with hope for the future among staff workers of Golestan University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: The cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 266 staff workers of Golestan University of Medical Sciences. The participants were selected via the stratified random sampling method. Data were collected using the Spiritual Well-Being Scale by Ellison and Paloutzian and Snyder's Adult Hope Scale and analyzed in SPSS software (version 24) using descriptive and inferential statistical methods (Spearman, Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis) at a significant level of 0.05.
Results: The mean age of the employees was 42±7.81 years, and their mean working experience was 16.49±7.49 years. In terms of gender, 62% of employees were female. Based on the results, spiritual health among employees was moderate (91.19±16.87), and hope for the future was high (41.62±6.95). There was a direct and significant relationship between spiritual health and hope for the future in total and by different dimensions (P<0.01).
Conclusion: Considering that with an increase in the scores of spiritual health and its dimensions, we are witnessing a sharp rise in hope for the future and its dimensions, the promotion of employees' spiritual health should be taken into account.
